Guardians,
We closed out our San Diego visit by meeting with leaders of the General Dynamics NASSCO Shipyard. We received a detailed brief on the shipyard's operations from President Fred Harris and his staff. We appreciated the briefings and tours of the ships under construction.
It was a special treat to meet with members of the USS BOXER that was dry docked at NASSCO for maintenance. BOXER recently deployed to the Horn of Africa and were part of the anti-piracy operations to free the Master of the MAERSK ALABAMA. During my recent trip to London for the IMO General Assembly, BOXER received a certificate of merit for their performance in anti-piracy operations.
