Guardians,
We discussed the great job our Aviation Detachment at GTMO did during Haitian response operations in an earlier post. Here is the photo taken outside their facility adjacent to the runway. The AVDET is an extension of Air Station Miami originally created to support deployed aircraft. The AVDET support cutters calling at GTMO and provides other logistical support to personnel departing or reporting to units. They were able to ramp up as part of the mission support organization that kept our cutters operating in Haiti.
