Guardians,
On Tuesday we visited GTMO. We received briefings on the tremendous work done by our support detachment to support Haitian earthquake response operations. We also were briefed on security operations being conducted by MSST LA/LB under the command of Commander Charlene Downey. The Coast Guard has provided waterside security in GTMO since the detainee facility was established in 2002. It was also good to see DALLAS in port and making preparations to get underway after the extensive repairs and availabilities over the last year. Our personnel continue to draw praise for their professional, dedicated service and it was an honor to share some time with them.
