Guardians,
I visited with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg today with Prospective Sector New York Commander, CAPT Linda Fagan, my Executive Assistant.
We visited in the Mayor's "Bull Pen" where he works with his staff collaboratively in an open office environment without walls. We discussed maritime security issues impacting New York, the future of an integrated operations center for Sector New York, the various uses contemplated for Governors Island, and potential improvements to our building between Battery Park and the State Island Ferry Terminal. Sitting in on the discussion was Deputy Mayor for Operations, Edward Skyler.
Hats off to CAPT Bob O'Brien and his staff at Sector New York for their terrific working relationship with the Mayor and his staff. We salute our friends Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and Deputy Commissioner for Counter Terrorism, Rich Falkenrath, former Deputy Homeland Security Advisor under Fran Townsend.
